If you love your singing bowl, you may use healing crystals as well. Many of us can sense the impact both have on our energy as well as our abilities to focus, relax, or recover.
But just like your singing bowl, your crystals could use some loving care. Cleansing crystals helps remove negative and sluggish energies that have been imprinted on them. Not to mention, cleansing clears out energies that are simply incompatible with the crystal’s purpose.

How To Clean Crystals at Home - 9 Best Ways
From selenite to singing bowls, there’s sure to be a method you can try today without spending a penny.
1. Breath & Intention
So shall it be. People who work with energies employ breathwork, visualization, and their intention to cleanse crystals. Use any of the above to move or dissipate unwanted energies clinging to crystals.
It only requires your focus, but this method still might be best for light or routine cleansing.
2. Sage or Palo Santo
Cleansing with smoke? Clearing psychic debris from crystals with sage bundles or palo santo is a longstanding tradition. It’s also quite ceremonial, making it a great match for cleansing with your intention.
If you already feel these help clear the energy from your space, try this method. If you’d rather not light up, try this next tip.
Cleansing crystals with moonlight is easy, as long as it’s the right time of the month. Waxing gibbous, full moon, and waning gibbous typically feature enough moonlight to hit the crystals, whether you set them outside or on a windowsill. Just make sure it’s a clear night.
The mysterious pull of the moon might not be what you’re looking for if you want to purify crystals for high energy, positivity, and action. For these, try a bright, sunny day.
Just make sure it’s not too hot, and don’t leave them out for more than a few hours. Some crystals can lose their luster (or even start a fire!) if they’re left in super-bright conditions for too long.
5. Singing Bowl Sound Bath
Maybe we’re biased, but this has to be one of the most effective ways to cleanse crystals and yourself in one fell swoop. The same frequencies that shift you into a calmer, fresher frame of mind can create a big shift in the potency of your crystals.
Have a little sound session for your crystals, and afterward, let them sit in the bowl for a little bit. You might find they’re a terrific match. For example, lapis lazuli just loves the Blue Gratitude bowl.

6. Spoken Mantras, Affirmations, or Chants
This is an especially good method for crystals associated with the throat chakra, such as amazonite, blue agate, or sodalite. Whether you have a favorite affirmation or are adept at chanting the sutras, this is another way to wash crystals clean with sound.
Selentine is a clear (and very affordable) mineral held tight by many specifically to charge and cleanse crystals.
You can keep crystals near or underneath a chunk of selenite, or better yet, get a selenite bowl to drop them in when they could use a little sprucing up.
Of course, cleansing crystals in the literal sense - with water - can be effective. You can even wash them in water you’ve charged under the moonlight. Just make sure not to leave them in too long and to thoroughly dry them.
Water cleansing can be especially effective when it’s performed after another method.
Your crystals might like forest bathing as much as some of us do. Place your favorite rock on top of another rock in the woods and let it absorb the sounds and energy of the earth it came from, restoring it to its original properties.
What happens if you don’t cleanse your crystals?
If you don’t cleanse your crystals, they won’t serve an energetic purpose. Tools for energetic healing and transformation can absorb energies that obscure their best qualities or weaken their powers. Taking a few minutes to purify them is essential for getting the results you want.
How to charge crystals?
Many of the methods we use to cleanse crystals are also suitable for charging them, although some are more suited to the dual purpose than others. Moonlight, singing bowls, sunlight, and selenite are as equally effective at charging as they are cleansing.
